Description

Some people are known for their generosity, while others are known for being “economical”. My co-worker Henry falls into the latter category. He has good job and earns a lot of money. But Henry still feels that he has to be careful about money though. He cuts corners wherever he can. He brings a bag lunch to the office every day; he clips coupons, and even buys day-old bread. Benjamin Franklin once said: “a penny saved, is a penny earned”, and Henry lives by this credo. Some would call him thrifty, but I would say he’s just plain cheap. He doesn’t even tip waiters in restaurants! Whenever the gang from the office goes out together for lunch, instead of just splitting the check equally, Henry insists on only paying for what he ordered, which is usually soup and crackers. He’s so cheap that after he shakes your hand he counts his fingers. Last week was Henry’s mother’s birthday and he took her out for lunch. After a lovely meal together, the check arrived. His mother’s jaw dropped when he suggested to her that they go Dutch. Now that’s what I call a tightwad! That’s all for now. See you next time!
