Description

Hi everyone, this is Michael and welcome to Engpods. Mary and Lilly were out for an afternoon stroll in the park. Suddenly, it started to rain. And in a few minutes it was coming down in buckets, so Mary and Lilly ducked into a bookshop to wait out the storm. “Seeing as we’re here, maybe I’ll pick up a book for my dad’s birthday” said Mary. “He’s so hard to shop for. I never know what to get him”, she continued. “What have you got in mind?” asked Lilly. “Oh, I don’t know, I was thinking of getting him the new whodunit by Tom Clancy”. “Really?” said Lilly, “I’m surprised, I thought he didn’t like mysteries”. “Well, what would you suggest?” inquired Mary, “a cookbook?”. “Heaven forbid!” cried Lilly, “He can’t even boil water”. “He’s hopeless in the kitchen”. “Do remember when he tried to bake a cake that time?”. “How could I ever forget it?” replied Mary, “He nearly burned the house down!” “Let’s just browse, I’m sure we’ll find something”. The two women wandered about in search of just the right book. “Hey, what do you think of this, Mary? A do-it-yourself book on home repairs, he’ll just love it”. “I don’t think so Lilly, remember when he tried to fix the dishwasher? He flooded the entire basement! Let’s keep looking. ”. Mary spotted an arts and crafts book. “Lilly, how about this? You know how he loves to work with his hands”. “Oh, Mary, you’ve got to be kidding” said Lilly. “Don’t you remember when your father took up pottery? He nearly poisoned himself by accidentally drinking the glaze”. Oh, that” said Mary, “I’d completely forgotten about that. ” “He was in the hospital for a month”. They continued looking. Lilly stopped, picked up a book that was on display and said “How about this book on home safety?” “PERFECT”, said Mary, “Good choice. But I still can’t help wondering what kind of trouble he’ll get himself into this time” That’s all for now. See you next time!
